West Wing Renovation

The West Wing and Northwest Cone Buildings, which house the Baltimore Museum of Art’s (BMA’s) contemporary collection, were renovated as the first phase of a comprehensive museum program. This project involved flexible new gallery lighting systems, skylight replacements, and new finishes in the galleries, all aimed at improving the visitor experience while assisting BMA with meeting specific contractual agreements with artists. In some cases, Marshall Craft worked directly with the artists, including coordinating the building design to accommodate installations highly integrated into the fabric of the building structure and architecture. The black box media gallery was relocated and re-engineered to accommodate the latest film and digital technology. Building infrastructure and roofing replacements also comprised the remainder of the project.
