Maryland School for the Blind

Bledsoe Cottages

The Bledsoe Cottages, opened in 2024, comprise 23,000 square feet of student living space, shared kitchen and dining amenities, staff offices, and support spaces for students living on campus. The cottages also host the Maryland Instructional Resource Center (MIRC) braille book repository on the lower level of the building, totaling 7,000 square feet.

The Bledsoe Cottages are part of a multi-year campus improvement effort that began in 2011 with the demolition of outdated buildings on the school’s 95-acre campus. Projects under this effort included new instructional buildings, residential dorms, an early learning center, and the renovation of the historic Newcomer-Case-Campbell buildings. Marshall Craft has completed over 10 projects for 10 years, four of which have been significant capital projects.
